Zoobiotic Ltd has committed its resources to extensive research into the field of Biosurgery. Our procedures are excellent and our commitment to quality is second to none. Each quantity of LarvE is extracted from a separate batch to ensure the product is sterile. All batches are constantly monitored, observed and tested with any problems being rectified immediately.

Our state-of-the-art pharmaceutical production unit has been designed in-house and provides the best facilities available anywhere today. All of our LarvE are produced in accordance with current European 'Good Manufacturing Practice' (GMP) requirements. We maintain consistent quality control of our products and manufacturing processes in order to meet our own very high standards too.

Our research and development programme and expertise in Biosurgical products has developed a new larvae production process that results in slightly larger and more active LarvE, which have improved viability at the point of use and an enhanced ability to digest dead tissue.

LarvE is our own specialist brand of sterile larvae that are used primarily in the treatment of necrotic, infected and sloughy chronic wounds. In most cases this greatly improves the condition of a wound and promotes healing, often catalysing the initiation of the healing process.

'Free range' LarvE and our LarvE BioFOAM Dressings are Zoobiotic Ltd's core products.

LarvE BioFOAM dressings consist of larvae that are enclosed in net pouches. The dressings contain pieces of hydrophilic polyurethane foam and this encourages activity in the LarvE by providing a favourable environment. They are becoming increasingly popular due to their ease of use and the more precise nature of treatment. The BioFOAM Dressings can be left for up to 5 days after which the wound should be reassessed. It is supplied in a plastic oyster and is placed inside a paper/polythene bag which acts as a microbial barrier and is permeable to air.

The 'free range' LarvE are applied directly to the wound and seek out areas of slough or necrotic tissue. They are concealed in a net dressing or similar. 'Free range' LarvE can be left for up to 3 days after which the wound should be reassessed. LarvE are supplied in a sterile container which has a lid that is permeable to air and also acts as a microbial barrier.

The LarvE are supplied with the necessary materials for application to a wound. A cool pack is also included in the insulation box when required to protect from warm weather.

Please note: LarvE must be used within 8 hours of receipt and kept at a temperature of 8-10°C.
